Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
It’s that time when everyone eats too much and gets a bit lazy with their grooming routine. Fortunately, one of the many benefits of using a classic safety razor is the ease with which it will cut through a Christmas beard - none of the tugging usually associated with clogging cartridge razors. Watch out Santa!
For our December box we wanted to do something a bit special. After toying around with ideas for little extras we could throw in, we changed our mind and decided to go for quality over quantity. Featuring the Pall Mall Barbers Shaving System, designed by London barbers to ensure the most comfortable, close-cut shave by focusing on pre and post facial care.
What better way to start the New Year than with a really satisfying luxury shave?
Pall Mall Barbers are a leading independent barbers in London renowned for their superior service and high quality products. Situated near Trafalgar Square, interestingly, they have only been known as “Pall Mall Barbers” since the business was bought in 2005. Before that, it was known as C Rose Barbers for over 50 years and the shop was originally named “Wonters and Charles Men’s Hairdressing” in 1896. Regardless of the name, for over 100 years they have helped the gentleman of central London look their most dapper with a close-cut shave. We're incredibly pleased to be able to offer both the shaving cream and post-shave balm from their prestigious shaving range.
The Pall Mall Barbers shaving system consists of 3 steps:
1. A Pre-shave scrub to buffer away any dead skin cells and dirt to leave a smooth surface for the razor to glide flush with the skin.
2. A moisturising shaving cream to protect the skin and lift up the hairs ready for the razor.
3. A cooling post-shave balm to calm and soothe the skin for a comfortable finish that also leaves the face feeling soft and nourished.
If you love these products as much as we think you’ll do, head over to the Pall Mall Barber website and check out their pre-shave scrub to complete the set…or maybe book yourself in for a shave to see how the professionals do it.

Pall Mall Barbers Sandalwood And Clove Shaving Cream
This hydrating shaving cream contains prickly pear seed oil combined with jojoba oil to deliver a luxurious lather that softens the hairs and cushions the blade for an effortlessly comfortable shave. It is easily worked up into an ample, rich lather and the sandalwood and clove fragrance smells fantastic; it has a woody, manly scent that perfectly epitomises the feeling of going to a proper gentleman’s barbershop for the full shave experience.
To use: For best results, we find 2 pumps of shaving cream give enough for multiple passes. Place into the centre of a damp shaving brush and work into a lather as normal, either in a bowl, hand or directly on the face. Leave for 30 seconds to absorb into the hairs and skin before shaving.
Pall Mall Barbers Sandalwood And Clove Post-Shave Balm
Designed to complement the PMB shaving cream, this post-shave balm has the same manly scent which you may find smells so good you won't need to reach for the cologne. Designed to cool and soothe the skin after shaving; the prickly pear seed oil reduces any chance for redness or irritation. Added glycerine moisturises the skin and antiseptic properties help to prevent razor bumps and ingrown hairs.
To use: Pat face dry with a fresh towel and then apply one pump of balm onto skin immediately after shaving to maximise the soothing benefits.
December Subscription Box Replacement Double-Edge Razor Blades
No matter your beard, we’ve got a blade for you! Every month we include new brands of double-edged razor blades from all over the world for you to test out. Each blade is manufactured with unique materials and processes that make each one different. This usually boils down to roughly 3 traits: sharpness, smoothness and longevity. How sharp the blade is determines how easily it cuts through your beard hairs without tugging. Longevity is how many shaves you can get out of each blade, this usually depends on how thick your hairs are. Smoothness relates to how comfortable the shave is, a sharp blade can glide through your stubble with ease but can also be too harsh for your skin type leading to irritation or nicks. Everyone is different, which is why we include new blades each month.
Dorco Prime Platinum DE Razor Blades
It’s very rare for new double-edge razor blades to come into the market, but Dorco have done it with their premium blade, the Prime. Made in Korea, they’re a particularly sharp blade best suited for really thick-haired individuals. The blades themselves are thinner to give them a sharper edge as well as double coated so they glide across the skin. With extra sharp blades like these, many wet shavers find that their first shave can be a bit too harsh but their 2nd and third are the best shaves. This is because the first shave will have slightly dulled the blade making it more pleasurable to use the second time. They'll last between 4 and 8 shaves.
Rapira Swedish Supersteel DE Razor Blades
Using the finest in Swedish steel, Rapira are a brand from Russia. The high quality steel used in these blades is a bit thicker and noticeably more stiff. A middle-of the range blade in terms of sharpness, it is well suited to all beards. Lasts 3-7 shaves
