New here?
The Personal Barber is the razor subscription that wants to turn your daily chore into a satisfying experience to look forward to.
We passionately believe that making the switch to a single-blade razor will change your whole outlook on shaving. Not only is it kinder on your skin so you can achieve a close shave without razor burn or rash, but there’s something very satisfying about using a single-blade that just isn’t felt from a multi-blade razor.
So say goodbye to your polluting plastic cartridges and discover shaving the way it’s meant to be done.
Every 6 weeks, we curate a selection of only the finest wet shaving gear from all over the world, introducing you to the lesser known brands that you don’t see in the supermarkets.
The first kit is the starter box which is a locked selection that includes everything you need to start loving your shaves. After the first kit, you'll receive a completely new selection, such as the one detailed below.
Make the switch to one of our single blade razors (included in your first box) and find out exactly what you’ve been missing:
- Warm scented lathers and effortlessly close shaves.
- A shave that’s kinder on your skin. Eliminate irritation and say goodbye to shaving rash!
- Artisan creams, post-shave balms, colognes and more. Every kit is different so you’re never bored.
- A clean conscience, no more plastic cartridges. Our blades are 100% recyclable.
Pre-shave box – Post-shave box – Extra-care box
Our latest kit is the “Pre-Shave Box” which will be going out to renewing subscribers between January 1st – February 15th.
With this kit we usually feature a pre-shave product such as a pre-shave cream or oil, designed to prep your beard before you slap a lather on and start shaving. We also include an extra product that’s more long-lasting and tend to feature less than once a year, so it’s quite the exclusive box!

The Personal Barber ‘Samurai’ Shaving Soap RRP £9.95
It’s finally here! After over 18 months of development, we are proud to launch our first shaving soap, using high quality ingredients and suitable for vegans.
We’ve had other soaps and creams in the past bearing our logo however they have been made by artisan soap makers using their formula but with our fragrance ideas. This latest soap is our first soap made from our own unique formula. After years of testing shaving soaps and creams from around the world, we feel like we know a thing or two about what makes them good and so we applied this to our own recipe.
Most important was getting the quality of lather right and a stable scent that remains through the shave, but we also wanted it to be suitable for vegans so absolutely everyone could use it (the top tier shaving soaps usually use beef tallow in their formulas).
It took a lot of trial and error but we finally settled on a formula that easily whipped into a dense and luscious foam that adequately protects from the blade for a comfortable shave, and leaves skin feeling smooth and supple.
Made from finest cocoa and shea butter known for their top-tier moisturising qualities.
Finally, our ‘Samurai’ scent is a heady blend with top notes of bergamot, orange, eucalyptus, and rosemary rounded out with notes of ginger, clove, cinnamon, cardamom, and nutmeg on a base of sandalwood, cedarwood, amber and musk. Interestingly, the Samurai scent was originally going to be the second fragrance but it came out so well that we ended up using it in our first soap.
To use: Swirl a slightly damp shaving brush directly on the soap for 5-10 seconds. Then start building your lather in a bowl or your hands until a thick and creamy lather is formed. It’s quite a thirsty soap so feel free to add drops of water until your lather is glistening.
Ingredients: Aqua (water), Stearic Acid, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Potassium Hydroxide, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride (Coconut), Sodium Hydroxide, Palmitic Acid, Sodium Lactate, Parfum (Fragrance), Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Disodium EDTA, Limonene, Hexyl Cinnamal, Eugenol, Benzyl Salicylate, Cinnamal, Citral, Linalool
Natura Emporium ‘Sweet Sunshine’ Pre-Shave Oil RRP £16
Based in Northern France, Natura Emporium create handmade skincare products for men and women using natural and vegan ingredients that are suitable for sensitive skin, rather than harsh chemicals found in many shop bought products.
Made with an expert blend of the finest oils designed specifically to aid in the shaving process such as castor, argan, and hemp oil. These oils are known for their excellent skin and hair softening qualities so your stubble becomes effortlessly easy for the blade to glide through without any resistance and leaves your face feeling hydrated and moisturised post-shave.
The ‘Sweet Sunshine’ fragrance is a captivating scent of lemongrass with a hint of orange and spearmint.
Including a pre-shave oil in your routine is a great way to ensure you have an extra comfortable shave, particularly if you have sensitive skin that’s prone to irritation. It creates an additional barrier underneath your shaving lather as well as moisturises the skin.
To use: Take a few drops of oil and massage into your freshly washed stubble. Leave to sit for a full minute so it has time to absorb and soften the hairs. Use this time to start building your lather with your brush. Apply your lather directly on top of the oil, no need to rinse it off, and begin shaving.
Ingredients: Ricinus Communis, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil, Cymbopogon schoenanthus oil, Citrus aurantium dulcis peel oil, Mentha viridis leaf oil, Melissa officinalis flower Oil.
The Personal Barber Alum Block RRP £9.95
The best kept secret in shaving! Alum is a natural stone that has been in use for thousands of years for its healing properties. Usually used as an astringent to stop bleeding by constricting the blood vessels but it also tightens pores and acts as an antiseptic that kills any surface bacteria, which helps prevent spots.
But the true genius of the alum block is in technique monitoring. Poor technique or blunt blades are often the cause of microscopic cuts and nicks but most of these are invisible to the eye.
You may think you’ve had a good shave but there is always room to improve. When you rub the alum block over any hidden spots of irritation it will immediately sting. You can use this stinging to identify areas of your face where you are perhaps not being careful enough or it could be a signal that your blade needs changing.
When you can consistently run an alum block over your freshly shaved skin without a hint of stinging, you know you have mastered wet shaving!
To use: Immediately after you have finished shaving, rinse off any remaining bits of hair or lather, then take your alum block and proceed to rub all over your still damp, freshly shaved skin. Once done, wash it off with cold water before applying your shaving balm.
Store the stone in an open, dry space to prevent it from dissolving.
